Traveling with your dog by car is not only a shared adventure, but also a great responsibility. Securing your pet while driving is crucial for both them and other passengers. Did you know that a dog unrestrained in a car can pose a serious threat in the event of sudden braking or a collision? In this article, we present the most important information about securing your dog in the car and our efforts to raise awareness in this regard.
Why is securing your dog in the car so important?
Together with the Greater Poland Police and the Wielkopolski Automobile Club, we recorded a film about safety. In the film, we discuss the most important aspects, i.e., ways of securing dogs, and we also conducted experiments at the Skoda Auto School showing what consequences a lack of proper dog restraint in the car can have. In the event of sudden braking, an unrestrained dog becomes an uncontrolled object. At a speed of 50 km/h, in the event of a collision, the weight of a 10 kg dog can increase to over 400 kg! This threatens both its life and the health of passengers.

Considering safety, see what actions we have implemented in this regard:
1. A seat belt for every car mat. We decided to include a seat belt with every car mat purchased from us, a standard belt that plugs into the car's socket. Why do you get it from us for FREE? Because we want our customers to be aware that a dog cannot be transported unrestrained in the car, and we hope that in this way we contribute to securing every pet traveling on our mat or car seat!
2. Certified seat belts. All our seat belts have been subjected to strength tests in an accredited PCA laboratory. The tests showed at what force individual types of belts are overloaded and destroyed. Thanks to this, we can provide specific data.

3. Certified safety harnesses. We have added safety harnesses for dogs to our offer, which have passed crash tests and obtained appropriate certifications. The harnesses are produced by a company that has been a European manufacturer of car seats for children for several decades. The harnesses undergo the same rigorous crash tests as child car seats – thus guaranteeing the highest level of protection, as confirmed by research results.

How to properly secure your dog while driving?
Here are some rules to follow:

Use safety harnesses: Make sure your dog has appropriate harnesses attached to the seat belt. Never attach your dog to the collar with a seat belt – you could harm your dog.

Transport your dog on a car mat: The mat defines its space and prevents it from moving, e.g., the dog moving to the front of the car.

Ensure your dog's comfort: Ensure proper ventilation in the car and take regular breaks during long journeys.
